The First Department They Cut…

"We're here to tell you that your position has been eliminated."Earlier this year, my job in a training department was eliminated (along with several others). Fortunately, my skill set and professional connections helped me get re-employed very quickly. My new role is very elearning focused, and I’m excited to delve more deeply into this field.

The “reduction in force” was not unpredictable – as the saying goes, training is typically one of the first places a company reduces. My former department struggled with implementing meaningful evaluation mechanisms. The best evaluation program in the world may not have saved those jobs, but it does highlight the critical importance of demonstrating the value of training.
